Osteopathy

Osteopathy is a system of diagnosis and treatment for a wide range of medical conditions.  It is based on the principle that the well-being of an individual depends on the skeleton, muscles, ligaments and connective tissues functioning smoothly together.

For your body to work well, its structure must also work well.  So Osteopathic techniques work to restore your body to a state of balance, where possible without the use of drugs or surgery.

Practitioners who have studied Osteopathy use touch, physical manipulation, stretching and massage to increase the mobility of joints, to relieve muscle tension, to enhance the blood and nerve supply to tissues and to help your body’s own healing mechanisms. They can also provide advice on posture and exercise to aid recovery, promote health and prevent symptoms recurring.

Myofacial technique

Myofascial Technique (or Myofacial Release) is a soft tissue therapy for the treatment of skeletal muscle immobility and pain.  The therapy relaxes contracted muscles, improves blood and lymphatic circulation and stimulates the stretch reflex in muscles.

'Fascia' is the soft tissue  providing support and protection for most structure and muscle within the body and often forms a protective sheath or layer around large muscles.

Osteopaths can treat this soft tissue when  restricted through psychogenic disease, overuse, trauma, infectious agents or inactivity.  Symptoms may include pain, muscle tension and/or diminished blood flow in localised areas.

Although fascia and any corresponding muscle are the focus of Myofascial technique, connective tissue can also be addressed.

Craniosacral therapy

Craniosacral Therapy does not seek to manipulate the skull or sacrum. It is a gentle, energetic rebalancing of the body to assist restoring harmony, either through light touch or indirect off-body work.

The relationship to Osteopathy is clear and works in harmony with both traditional Osteopathic technique and Myofacial technique.

Similar to listening to words, the therapist feels for body imbalance and supports the body's natural response, restoring balance for itself.  Many patients describe the treatment feeling as... "really being listened to, in a very deep sense".  They often experience deep stillness, relaxation, connection and a feeling of wholeness.

Due to its non invasive, gentle nature, Craniosacral Therapy is suitable for everyone from newborns to the elderly.

Naturopathy

Naturopathy is based on Vitalism, which suggests the presence of a vital energy or force guiding bodily processes such as metabolism, reproduction, growth and adaptation.  Diagnosis and treatment focuses on alternative therapies to promote the body's natural ability to heal.

The aim of this holistic approach is to prevent or manage illness through stress reduction and changes to diet and lifestyle where appropriate.

Naturopaths often recommend exposure to sunshine, herbs and certain food types, as well as exercise, meditation and relaxation. These natural treatments help restore the body's innate ability to heal itself without the adverse effects of conventional medicine.

Modalities include the fundamental elements of human life such as water, oxygen, nutrition and rest.  Treatment may introduce breathing exercises, meditation, inclusion and/or avoidance of specific food types, hydration monitoring and localised hot/cold poultices for various ailments.

White light radionics

Radionics theory builds on the premise that all living things including plants, animals and humans radiate energy.  Healthy cells emit a different energy or 'frequency' to unhealthy cells.

Radionics is the practice of 'tuning in' to these unique frequencies, a bit like tuning a radio to a station, to identify energy and any irregularities occurring during ill health.

Typical analysis utilises a sample of a patient's hair.  The individual's cell frequency is checked for any disharmony and results reveal specific misalignments or point to areas that might be affected and require further attention.

Radionics can also be utilised in reverse.  In addition to reading energy emanating from a patient's body, a specialist can 'send' healthy frequencies to the body.  This correcting energy can have a positive effect to assist the body to find its optimum balance and healthy state.
